Has anyone out there ever tried to slide the braided section off a set of BB spark plug wires and try to slide them over a "Late Model" plug wire set??? I just don't trust those OLD STYLE plug wires to be effecient. I do like the OLD STYLE look though!!!!!!
ANYONE??? or just a BAD IDEA???
I'm interested in this, too, though I don't think it'd be a very easy job. Those puppies are snug--getting them off would be a bee-atch, and getting them on a new set of wires would be a triple-bee-actch, esp. since I think modern wires are larger in diameter.

I've bought and used the new braided wires sold through Summit. They even come with the grounding tails just like the Vette wires. They look like stock wires, sell for about $50 brand new, and seem to perform just fine.

That I will have to check out. I think I paid something just north of $100 for the set of repro wires I have on my car at the moment.

I didn't know Summit carried these. I thought these were big block Corvette only and for NCRS types at that.
I bought a set of repo braided wires($85)at Carlisle last year and they're on the car now!!! They were a Perfect fit BUT the 1st time I had to remove them I pulled the plug end right off!!! I've bought a slip agent to apply to the tips to keep them from being so hard to pull off but haven't had a chance to apply it yet. A drag racing buddy told me that there are plug wires our there that are thin enough for the exchange. I don't really know, I was just hoping that someone out there had already tried it!!
I have reused my braided wires a number of times. I use a set of universal plug wires, where you cut to length, and install the distributor end. When you push the braiding together, it expands, like Chinese handcuffs, and you can pull out the old, and push in the new. Easy as pie. I soak the braiding in solvent, to get the oil off it, before installing the new wires.
