O.K. here is the situation. My drivers side window seems to have come unattached < at leas partially from the forward slide. How can I get into the door to fix it and see what needs to be replaced? I took the panel off and it looks like it is pretty well together as one peice. I know there has got to be a way to do it. Any Ideas?
Do you mean the plastic roller bolted thru the glass is loose, or that it has come out of it's track? I would bet on the roller being either loose(not likely) or broken. You will most likely have to remove the window to fix or replace the roller. See the service manual for detailed steps as to how to do it. I think, but am not sure, that you can get the window out without moving any of the channels, which would affect the adjustments. See this site for help with that if needeed http://www.71corvette.com/wt.html
PS: Not an expert, just a bumbler that went thru both of my 72's to clean the channels, etc and found it was not that hard with the instructions. Should have marked all the channel locations before removing them, but then I wouldn't have spent a few hours learning how to adjust the glass.

Its common. Nut comes off the bolt holding the guide at the front. Window can go up and down but it can now slide fore and aft. Had a friend with power windows aho had the same problem and chipped his glass, bent the chrome on the windshield. The nut will be inside the door as it has no where to go. You need to remove the door panel and then put the nut back on. Also a good time to clean the guides and lube everything. Remember to clean the old gunk off before you put more grease on as the old stuff will be like molasses.
The AIM has good pics also. Scribe the bolt holes so you know where to put everything back if you pull things out.
