Default Resto-mod and engine swap.

I'm starting to plan a resto mod and want to retain the stock look but I want something different under the hood.Has anyone gone for an unusual engine swap other than a V8? I'm thinking V12.

What kind of V12? Jaguar...Mercedes...BMW?

I lot of Jag V12 owners swap IN a small block Chevy V8. Perhaps you could find somebody and do a one-for-one engine swap!

Default V12

I'm thinking of the Jaguar but its an untidy looking engine. The BMW looks good. Both cars are cheap here so that helps. So many end up with a V8.

There's a company in the USA who build a V12.Based on a chev.

Nothing like putting in a HEAVIER LESS horsepower engine just to be different.

To each his own...

Post pics, love to see the swap.

What possesses people to perform this sort of SACRILEGE on a piece of American Artwork is beyond me...you want a v12 buy a freaking European car, you want a Corvette, stick with whats tried, tested and true (to rip off Ford )

I say why not? There are a bunch of really high tech motors out there now, and with a little inginuity you can make a cool rod. Lots of light DOHC V8's available if the V12 doesn't fit (ha, with the size of the fan shroud, two V8's could fit LOL). I'd go further, upgrade the suspension and brakes, and the interior too. All you need is imagination, time and money. Joe

Pick up a V10 from a wrecked viper and drop it in. Let me know how it looks!

After reading this thread twice I decided not to comment, but I'd love some pics if it works.

High tech????

How about an Indy car 10000 rpm engine - or even an engine out of a F1 car?

That would be neat. But lotsa moula.

If you still don't have the car, I think the most high-tech looking C3 is the 80-82 body style. If you really want to bust the bank, change it into a convertible. Joe

I agree with the GN turbo V6 idea-something I've thought about before. I wouldn't do it personally, but I think it would be ubercool. Screw the boring ideas about keeping it stock.

Get ahead of the curve...go with a turbo direct injection diesel.
OR..get WAAY ahead of the curve and go electric!
