I've been using Meguiar's high gloss hot shine tire spray (In a spray can) for awhile now but I want something different. This stuff comes off and leaves a black residue film on my wheels. What do you guys use? Thanks
I first clean the tires with Bleach White or bleach based bathroom cleaner. Then regardless of what I use, I spray it on and let it soak in for a few minutes. I wipe it off really well and than I apply another coat and wipe that off. I get really good results like this whether I use Armor All or Son o a Gun..
I use westleys every time i wash the car and then a coat of the tire shine... i dont have the problem you have for some reason... could it be the build up on your tires?
You know I never really thought about the buildup on the tires. I just always wiped the tires off when I washed the car. Next time I put the tire shine on I'll give the tires a good scrubdown with a brush.
In one word the word is "Fantastic". For 11 years now I simply spray the tires and wheels with Fantastic, let it sit only while I spray number two wheel, then with a small brush, scrub lightly (no effort hardly required)...hose it off, let it dry then two coats maximum is all that is needed of Armorall to give your tires the look yu want.
I like the Westleys to clean the rubber but it can be hard on the aluminum wheels so try to get it off quickly. The tire shine stuff I have been using lately is called "Endurance". It is purple and thick. I use a crescent shaped foam applicator. It lasts a long time and I would keep using it. When I get a chance I will try some Pledge. I have used it on the interor and it works great.
As said above, you have to get the old tire shine off before you spray the tire. I like BlackMagig tire shine gel best - it's not a spray, it's a gel and seems to stay on the tire. It's only $5 - give it a try...

Dont use Armorall...it will destoy the sidewalls of the tire. use something that's made for tires!
