Default Assembled the short block today, pics

Finally got a crank for my motor so I took the entire assembly over to a buddies shop and we put it together.

I managed to break one ring

A friend of my buddy dropped by with a 200 hp hill climber Harley. This thing runs on 50% nitro and alcohol mixed.

John I thought your car came with a descent motor?? I know you wanted something bigger. Is that block special. It looks a little ratty on the outside?? You must have started with a older motor that didn't need machining?? I thought it would be hot tanked before doing anything.
Is nitro really that good of a fuel??? Per gallon it is far inferior to gas. The only redeaming property of nitro is it can burn in the absence of air but the BTU output per gallon is low.

I hope that you got the block line honed for those crank studs.

Your right as a btu measurement gas is more than nitro. What makes nitro so powerful is it is made up like something of 17 to 1 oxygen molecules. Meaning it burns without air.How it makes so much power is by the pure volume that can be put thru an engine.Around 12 gals in a 4sec run.The only way to contain it once it is burning is to shut the fuel supply off.The only diff between a alky car and nitro car is pretty much the fuel, alky 2500 hp fueler 8 to 9000hp, yes nitro is baaaaad.
