Yesterday I Was Doing The Simple Task Of Changing The Fuel Filter On My 69 Vette. It Has A Rochester Quadrajet Carb. Noticed When I Was Taking The Line Off Something Did Not Feel Right. Well Anyway, The Threads In The Carb Housing Are Stripped Out( Where The Fuel Filter Goes In The Housing). I Have Put The Darn Thing Back Together Using Jb Weld. Not Sure Yet If It Will Hold Up(letting It Cure). Any Ideas What Will Be The Next Step If The Jb Weld Does Not Work. New Carb?? Are All 69 350 Carbs The Same. The Car Is A 350/350 Horsepower. If Need Be Where Should I Look For A New Carb. Help !! Dave

Had the same problem some years ago. if i remember correctly, there is a fix that uses a nut with a rubber gasket that expands as you tighten it to get the seal. I don't recommend the jb weld as it likes to flake off and clog the filter or worse yet get caught between the needle and seat causing a flooding problem.

If it's a '69 carb, I can repair it for you. I have all the tooling to correctly repair the early style 7/8-20 inlet threads with a stainless steel insert. This allows use of the stock inlet nut and the fuel filter after the repair, and it's permanent. Drop me an e-mail if you'd like my services info sheet that outlines process and cost. Don't use the nut with the rubber seal & plug, and don't get the over-sized self-tapping fitting that cuts the threads - both of these fixes are unreliable and dangerous. V8FastCars@msn.com
