Default Need help, Heater Core Replacement

I have read what I could find on this forum about Heater core replacement, but it doesn't hurt to ask additional questions.
I have a 1970 454 W/ A/C and the core is leaking.
I understand to get the core out you can remove it through the passenger compartment, exclusively??? Please say nothing has to be removed from the engine area...(A/C)....right
Now...once the core is removed, what other things must be inspected and or purchased before reassembly. ie. foam seals Glazing Compound...ETC.
It appears that there are only 4 bolts holding the HC pleum in place to get to the HC, is this true?
I know this is not an easy job, so please help, so I only have to do it only once. I was in there once before just to change the radio.... and I'll tell you it's no fun, especially when you are 6' 2" Any little details are welcomed.

thanks

I need to replace my heater core on my 1970 air con BB also. I'd be interested in reading anyones comments about replacing the heater cores. Thanks for some suggestions.

It's a crappy job, but someone's gotta do it. I had to pull the passenger side dash out, and remove the radio to get to mine. Once I got the heater box out, it was easy to swap out the core.

The toughest part of the job is removing and replacing the dash.
