Default Vette-less

Last wknd, I ran an ad just to measure interest in my '81, and ended up selling it to the first caller for the asking price. It was very strange watching it disappear down the street without me.

Now, what to replace it with??

Oh c'mon, they aren't fun! They just sit there, and, ya know, WORK all the time.

They don't break every 3 minutes and take time to fix.

And you don't have to let em warm up for 25 minutes.

And the clocks work.

and it isn't vacuum powered.

..how much are C6's again?

What are you thinking of choices to replace it and if you don't mind, what did it sell for? If you don't want to tell either don't or tell me to mind my own business.

I was considering a '92-'96 C4, or hold out for an '06 Mustang GT (yeah, I know, but at least they circled the problem....)

But I never even got to see your car....

Mind if I ask the reasons for selling?

Default Sold the Vette

Lets see, an 81, Pretty good body style, and you hang out here with a senior rating, that means most of it probably worked . A pretty good paint job. Tell me you got offered 10,000. I'd say if you didn't you probably wont buy another Vette.

Atleast it was your choice to get rid of it. Mine was torn away like a hang nail Still hurts and still nothing from the ins. adjuster. He must be trying extra hard to screeew me over.

I sold it because everything worked, it started up right away, the interior was nearly perfect, and the body had newer paint. The insurance was affordable and I rented a place to store it in the winter. I had all the documentation, short of the window sticker, and knew it was a local, 3 owner car. The windows went up. The windows went down. The interior lights dimmed on queue and the headlights popped up at the same time. And, the T-tops had perfect rubber seals.

I was torn between keeping it original (except for the exhaust), and spending money to hop it up. What would I end up with? A $10,000 Corvette with another $5k (minimum) in go fast parts. Would I enjoy a modded '81? Hell yeah, but for how long before I'd want to move on to something else?

I guess that's why I sold it, and likely the reason I've owned 39 cars and trucks, and 12 motorcycles, since 1976. One day, I'll find that one car I'll be completely satisfied with....
