I am intrugued with your suggestion, Mike, thanks. I like the big tires look, I just didn't know what came stock, thought it best to stay with what was on my 78PC when I got it.
Am I correct to assume I can get Goodyear Eagle GT II ( or something similar) tires in the 255/60 R15 size with solid white lettering? (instead of the outside white lettering)
Just a little word of caution.
Not all the cars were set up for 255/60 tires.
You may want to check the entire side to side movement to make sure they don't rub in front before buying.
In case you guys aren't familiar with how forums work..... there is a search function for smart people to use and educate themselves on a topic and contribute if they can this way they can get the answers they need much quicker and don't have to wait and hope for an answer to come unless the search came up empty.
....if everyone started a new thread on the same topics instead of doing this there would be even hundreds of more threads reinventing the wheel on the same topics, each thread less informative and ironically because there are sooo many different threads on the same topic the likely hood of some being full of bad info is higher since less info and experience is contributed to each one....
For this reason as well as to add useful info (like the fact that 5 years after the original question was asked the the answer changed as the GT tires in question are made again.... so someone searching this topic or Googling it will now find this very useful info.
I for one appreciate this because I use the forum search function as well as Google and a few long informative threads is better than 20 small dead end threads that all seem to counterdict each other depending on the few people that participate because they are sick of answering the same questions over and over and wish people would just use the damn search function and take a few minutes to read the answers already provided before asking the same common questions posted every other day.... there is a point when a thread becomes too long but this is hardly the case.
Thanks, yea. I know how it works. I just found it funny that answers were given to questions asked in '05. There was not a a "hey by the way, these are now available for those interested"...type of response. I found it funny, and was not a dig at hunt4cleanair. I have done the jurassic revive myself on threads.
Tires stored out of direct UV light (the sun) will last much longer than 5 years...more like 8-10 years, at least. I have a set of 245/45/17 ZR BFG Comp TA's on my 94 Mustang GT that I am replacing this year that are 12 years old with little mileage on them, car stored indoors out of the sun most of the time, and the tread rubber and compound shows no dry rot and is still relatively soft.
I had a set of Eagle ST's on my 73 Nova SS a long time ago....good they are out of production........standard passenger car tire with raised white lettering....zero performance
