I cannot get my starter to turn over at all BUT the solenoid clicks and continues to click as long as you hold the key in the start position. Battery is brand new. Must be the starter needs to be replaced?????????

First check all your connections, they should be tight and free of dirt & oxidation.

Have you recently done any work on your engine that could have caused this to happen?

If your connections are ok it is either the solenoid contacts or the motor itself. In either case you will have to remove it and rebuild it.

Try haveing someone hold the key to the start position and tap the main case of the starter with a hammer. If the starter then cranks you have a"flat spot" on the armature, and the answers is a rebuilt unit or one of the new "mini" high torgue units.
