Default 16 inch wheels. (Again)

Little help. I lost the info I had on 16 inch wheel and tire size on c-3s. I have a 77 and am ready to do the wheel and tire thing. I know 16 gets me to a better assorment of tires so one more time if you guys and gals don't mind. Best tire size for 16 x 8.5 x 4 wheels is what?

Thanks

The perfect size for these is the 255/50/16. I just happen to have a set brand new for sale... Kuhmo Ecsta, Z-rated.
PM if interested!

I went with 255/55/R16, which is something like 27.1 inches height...as close as I could come to stock to avoid (even more) speedo inaccuracy issues. I like the Kumho's!

I'm going with 255/55/16 for the added height. 255/50/16 is the same diameter as the 235/60/15 that are on there now and they look too small. Joe

Unless you already have the rims why would you go 16 inch? The cost of rims is about the same weather you choose 16-17-18-20.
A jump up to 16 is not worth it unless like I said you already have the rims.

I am negotiating on a set of used 16 x 8s that I really like. The guy just wants too much for them but I think he will come around. I can't aford brand new rims and ruber right now. The hunt for a deal is half the fun anyway.

That wasn't the case when I bought my 16's. There was a $130 difference/wheel between 16 & 17.

Sounds like these are the way to go but the wheels I am looking at have 245/50/16 tires mounted on them already with pleanty of tread left. I'm trying to get him to throw them in with the wheels, just to save him the hassel of getting them taken off and to make this whole thing a bit more easy for the wife to swallow. They will drop the car 3/4" but that is a good thing, right? Worse case I buy new rear tires that are taller and I end up with a spare front set.

245/50r16 o front 255/50r16 on rear, the 245's on front just barely touch the frame (or should I say rivet head) on mine.

Although this question wasn't directed at me, one reason is that you can get good tires in 16" sizes. To me at least, larger wheels really do not look good on C3's. So I have the smallest ones that I can fit useful tires on (16's).

I have 255/50/16 Pilot Sports tires, which are great. Very pricy though.

I'm glad to see this setup will work because I am probably going to end up with the same thing. I should know by the end of the day if this guy is going to bite on my last offer. If he does this is going to be one very sweet deal.
