Well today I pulled the remains of the U Joint off the 81....
(For details of what happened see my "I can't get her started post".
The 1/2 axle is also worthless as it buggered up the ends enough so that is no way a new ujoint will go back in.
I'm rapidly gaining experience on the car! A little faster than I wanted, but......In the last two months, new rear wheel bearing, new distrib, new intake, new carb, new t'stat housing, ripped out old computer equipment, and now this! I'll soon have a little knowledge of UJoints and 1/2 axles........

Remember to bolt the flange to a solid plate before attempting to remove the joint from them or you'll be buying a flange too. Is the ID of the yoke ok , if so you might be able to reuse them. You're experiencing the reason many vette shops and vendors are wealthly today

I break everything!! Dremel is tore up as well! That thing didn't last two years.........
I'm keeping all of the original parts, so some other fool can tackle the job of the 1/2 shaft if they want. The round holes are beat up and bent more than it looks in the pics. Plus, it's a PITA to change out the u joint. I'm getting tired of PITA jobs........I'm passing on this one, especially if I can get a reconditioned one with the ujoints installed for 85 bucks....
