That depends if its a manual or autotransmission.

Manual cars have fixed crossmembers and autos removable on a ´75.

Regardless of what you are building the removable crossmember to me is more desirable. Even with a stick you should take the time and make it removable.

I was looking for a bolt on,and this one was welded.I'm a little dumbfounded because this
yard specializes in Corvettes.Frame was nice, had been cleaned and painted.Original buyer couldn't use it for his 1980.Could have gotten it for $650.00

It's not a big deal making the crossmember a bolt in. With the bare frame it would be easy. If you like the frame don't pass it up because of the crossmember.

Sounds like a great price on the frame. Perhaps you can salvage the brackets and cross member from your existing frame.

Default 75 frame question

I changed names.
My thought was to buy a frame, and build from there.
That way my car will not be in pieces for a few years.
What would I have to do to change the crossmember?

You would need to cut the cross member off and weld on brackets for the removeable cross member. Even a rusted out frame might have these parts in decent condition.
