Default need custom door ideas

well,
some of you people know that i am doing a custom vette...some hate some don't...... i'm in a postion to trick out the doors.... i was thinking about the lambo kits but after research on the kits i found a few problems with them...... so, i decided that i was going to suicide the doors if i can... iwas going to do this a year ago but didn't have the marbles to do it...... i figure that i could mount the new hinges to the frame in the rear pillar and i would just cut out for the new latch in the door.... this will also solve my door popper issue since i shaed my handles and locks...... the only thing i see an issue with is making sure the door open enough to clear overhang of the outer skin...... i need some feedback....any ideas?

What specifically made you decide against the Lambo door kit?

i ahve heard that they tend to work loose and its hard to align the fenders to the doors...... i figured that suicide would look sweet anyways..... suicide will be better since i'm 6'2 and getting my legs out of the vette has always been a problem..

Ferarri (probaly not spelled right) swing up doors would look cool since the doors are long.

He speaks the truth. Def be custom fabrication though as I am sure there is not kit out there for this.

Well, noot much help here, but I must say that the suicide doors would be hella sweet, too. I dont see those much anymore with all these new lambo kits out there. I lik them 'cause they kind of remind me of an old 30-40's gangsta's car.

Huh...I always thought of gull wing doors as opening straight up, ala Mercedes and Delorean...these open more at an angle...

true with the gull wing...... that's how they advertise the setup since the kits aren't made for the delorean setup but are close to the motion...i guess...... i think suicide would look sweet.... i'm looking into it right now and trying to figure out a hinge system to work.... considering the latch side now has two angles in it i would have to make the hinge axis straight so i might have to cut into something..... that's fine..... it's a project car...right..

Keep us informed. Suicide doors might be pretty sweet...the way the Enzo doors open is way cool, though.

These folks make a rebody for 3rd gen Camaros with the ferrari doors...maybe what they make could be adapted for the C3?

i talked to the guy that made the lambo kits for the c3's and i guess he is selling a ton..... he has an order for 25 right now plus what ever else comes in from today...... they were 600 but now he selling them for 899 i think but he said i can get one for 799 if i call him..... eventually they will be 1099 in a month..... i'm gonna see if i can suicide my doors for under 400.... i don't see y i can't..... i got a place that will do it but they have to look at the car first..
