Need advice on 427 Pulley set!!!
As mentioned, I need advice on my pulley set for the 427 engine.
I have:
dual pulley for the crankshaft
dual pulley for the water pump (which I have to change because is slightly bent) the pump 383 casting
single pulley for the alternator
dual pulley for the AC Compressor.
OK, none of the pulleys match together! (get alligned)
Weired thing, I bought all the correct pulley brackets for the AC, Alternator and PS pump. Mi guess now, the pulleys are not the original Vette pulleys.
From the diagram I have the belts should run as follows:
crankshaft-Power steering pump-water pump
crankshaft-water pump-AC compressor
Power steering-alternator
I'm thinking about changing to the March system Ecklers offer for around $350. Any comments on it?
(if i would use that system, then the AC wouldn't be installed on the car)
Does anyone have a matching set of Pulleys for sale?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Talked to a guy by the name of Joe Lucia at the NCRS forum board and this is the correct GM pulley part numbers still being supplied by GM.
Crank (double for SWP) - 3921923
WP (double for SWP) - 3995641
I did have to shim the water pump pulley with a 1/16" shim for correct allignment. Hope this helps.

The above wp pulley worked for me with the stock crank pulley. The 3995641 is also available from Eckler's (part # 27272) for 65.99 . I also had to shim about 1/16".

I used the same combo, 3921923 crank + 3995641 WP. I have an Edelbrock BBC short water pump, 5/8" pilot shaft, ended up shimming 1/8" to get the alignment. The "captive" belt I used was a Gates XL7330 (advertised 33-5/8" length).
I suspect that 3995641 is actually a small-block HI-PERF (deep groove) pulley.
