With much thanks to several of you for the help this past weekend on A-arm removal, I made great progress in prepping and painting the frame. The finished product is fantastic. You can see the pics and the journey to get there the past few days at my blog here:
Thanks for sharing! Great write up & pics. When you compare the before & after pics its awesome what you've done. You must have very effective time management skills!
everytime i see someone on this forum post frame off pictures it make me want to start tearing my car appart and redoing everything. i must say that is a very nice write up and some really good pictures you posted on your website. hopefully one day i will have the opertunity to do the same thing with my 76. keep up the awsome work and keep us updated with more pictures and more write ups.
It only APPEARS to be moving fast because the family is out of town. As you might note from my blog post dates, I had nearly 4 weeks of nothing which was very frustrating.
But, the dam appears to have broken and now a bunch of progress. I just got my front end rebuild parts from Bair's last night. My t-arms are done at VanSteel and coming back with the family on Saturday. I've got to crack open the diff to see what it needs, rebuild the a-arms, check the front spindles and clean them, and put the front suspension back together. With any luck I could have a rolling chassis again this weekend. You all can take bets on whether I make it or not!
No doubt... you're moving way too quickly. Took me quite awhile to get to the point you're at.
I was beginning to think it would take me forever to make any real progress.... then I found out how long NHVette has been working on his and I felt a little better.
Nice website and nice work on the chassis! It always helps to have the wife in the background laughing at you while you work
How's about sending some of that sunshine up here?! It just broke 50 here today for the first time in months! Spring seems to be taking it's sweet time to arrive this year.

I got the right side a-arms bushings removed and the ball joints removed tonight. The bottom ball joint rivets were a real mess. drilled them and then beat the fool out of the ball joint until it came into submission and fell out. Then blasted and sanded the arms so they're ready for prime and paint tomorrow.
The left side a-arms got their first dip in the degrease tub and the initial scrub. I'll leave them overnight to soak some more and work the rest of the grime off. Then repeat the process for removal of the bushings and ball joints. I should be good to put the front suspension on Saturday by my estimates. Just got my shipment from Corvette Central with my shocks and body mounts as well.
