Default Shocking Question

I noticed Ecklers and Mid America both sell KYB and Delco gas shocks. What's best for an '81 (32k miles, 4-speed trans)? I realize Bilstein and Koni are better, but they don't fit my budget. Thanks for the help.

It seems as if the KYB shocks have more favorable reader response than the Delco's. If put up to a vote, I think the KYB's would win. Maybe it is hype, or brand name recognition.

I know I speak sacriledge (mentioning this vendor) but KYB GR-2's are available from Rock Auto (www.rockauto.com) for less than half the price from the others.

I've had the same set of Delco's on for 10 years. No issues except they ride hard.

I got my GR-2s at Summit for $19 each. OK, tell me how stupid I am to rebuild my entire suspension then put on cheapie shocks.

71 vert with a 'plastic' spring and GR-2's...they fixed my Boing Boing Boing on rebound. I like 'em.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like the KYB's are preferred. Rockauto.com has some great prices. I've bookmarked the site for future reference. I can get four shocks for almost half the price offered by Mid America and Ecklers. I'm gonna check Summit, too. Thanks to all for the feedback.

Go with the KYB's. I put on a set this past winter along with suspension bushings. Really improved handling. Of course, the shocks and bushings I replaced were stock and in bad need of replacment.
