The guy who's been sand-blasting my suspension parts says he can sand-blast the paint off a fiberglas body without issue. "Don't need plastic media or walnuts...I use the same stuff that I use on boats...hydrosand".
Can you use "sand" to strip paint from our cars? Anyone ever heard of "hydrosand"?
Done a search and found were they use a 3,000 lb powerwasher along with siphon feed sandblaster and took them 6 hours to do the bottom of the boat. Sounds like a big mess. I would use a razorblade or chemical stripper.
This summer I'm going to split the cost of renting a diesel powered soda blastinig unit. We have 5 vehicles to strip including mine. We'll pick it up on Friday and return it on Monday. Supposedly the soda blasting media will not hurt glass or metal trim.
Anyone have or heard of any experiences using a soda blaster to strip paint off of fiberglass?
Recently talked to a guy that does the soda blasting
thing. He claims that you can use on fiberglass without any problems.Doesn't harm the gelcoat, nor any trim.
He says to use in a dry place, because the baking soda
will cake up in certain areas if it gets damp or wet.
