Another key milestone in the frame off resto reached this weekend, I completed rebuild of the front suspension and assembly back on the frame. You can catch the complete saga again here:
and I'll try this pic thing from blogspot one more time!
I also got the trailing arm from VanSteel and I'll say the work looks exceptional. Thanks guys! But I'm running 2 days short on time and installation is going to have to wait until next weekend.
This will mostly be a restoration. The lone exception will be the motor. I am storing the original #s matching motor and building up a 350 small block to burn some rubber! I'm going by an engine builder tomorrow on my way out of town to see what short blocks he's got and then I'll decide whether to go the re-man route with him, re-buiuld a 350 small block I already have, or the 350 GM Goodwrench crate motor. I'll probably be posting some questions and asking for opinions on that in the next week or two.
Sounds great. I have been doing some research on rebuilding an existing engine or the crate engine route. By the time you finish the rebuild you would have probably spent more than the crate engine. Don't forget you will not get a warranty with the rebuild or if you do it won't be 2 yrs.
GM has a crate engine that is a 330hp 350 part nr. 12486041. Out of the crate it is 330Hp at 5,000 rpm and 380 ft/lbs. at 3,800 rpm. You can also buy it with the intake and carb, water pump, balancer. That is part nr. 12496968. With some minor mods. I have read you can get 400 hp. and over 400 ft. lbs of torque. All this and a 2 yr. warranty. I am in Canada so the prices will not do you any good. I highly recommend you check this out.
All the best with your restoration and modifications.
