All right here is what has been happening. I was driving around 80 or 90mph. I floored it. Car reved real loud, car did not accelerate. So I slowed down to to probably around 60 gased it. Car went fine. So about a day latter going at about 80 or 90. car reved hi, and did not go. it only does this when I am above 80. So today I got on the highway. foored it, it accelarated good, up to 80, car reved up again like it was sliping. So I check the trans oil. ( figgured it must be low) oil level was high, I am guessing around a quirt. Do you guys think this is the problem or I could it be something alot worse (I hope not) One of my friends mentioned the tork converter. Please help, it is pretty hard to drive the car under 80.
I would check for a loose nut behind the steering wheel...that is...only if you regularly drive 90+ on public roads. If the nut ain't there...the slippage won't be either
Also, when is the last time you changed the fluid and filter? Those TH350s won't behave properly if the fluid can't flow. That could also cause more fluid to stay in the pan instead of going through the tranny - thereby causing the high reading (assuming you didn't overfill the tranny of course).
Check the simple things like that first, then look at the big things. Also, how is your cooling system for the tranny? If the fluid gets too hot, then that can cause slippage and eventually burn out the tranny (I know this from experience unfortunately).
it is an automatic. I just bought the car, about 2 weeks ago. I am going to change the fluid now. I was thinking about getting the moroso trans pan, I thought that might help out also. I never thought about the govorner? How would I go about checking that?
