Default Alternator re-clocking----- HELP!

I just received a high output alternator from the Big Brown Truck.

When I attempted to install it, I realized that it needed to be re-clocked.

So, I loosened and removed the four 1/4" long bolts and pulled the "top" (where the pulley is) off.

NOW, I see that this was a mistake as these small spring-loaded magnets that ride on the shaft must be "reset" and I don't know how to proceed from here.

Has anyone ever had this happen?

Does anyone know how to reset those magnets (procedures) and get this thing back up and running?

OR, should I take it to an Auto-Electric shop and have them do it??

Thanks for ANY help!!

Bob

Those are your brushes.Push them back in,take a paper clip, open it up and stick the clip thru the hole in back of the alternator. The clip will hold the brushes back. Reassemble then pull the clips out and the bushes will the spring into place

Common mistake. Nothing like the sinking feeling that you're never gonna get this thing you took apart back together again. Bozzman nailed it (or paper clipped it, or something like that )!
