Installed the motor and TKO as a unit today. It was scary holding that big motor over the car like that, but all went well.
Small things I should have done different
1... The motor mounts. I had them bolted to the motor to start with, but no way could the frame portion they sit on get lined up. I crawled under the car and removed them from the motor and installed them on the frame.
2... The crank on the hoist hanger to shift the weight. I should have had that handle for it pointing to the front. With it pointing to the rear when the motor was close to home I couldn't crank the handle because it was hitting against the firewall.
3... Discovered there is no way these tall valve covers are going to work. The passenger side one hits against the firewall. I'll have to find some shorter ones.

Cool, I noticed it has AFR heads, what is the motor build? I went through the same battle with my 69. I found the only valve covers that would fit over my stud girdle and clear everything was the GM bowtie racing valve covers.
nice pictures and thank you for the tip with the motor mounts sense i will be pulling my engine again here in a week and a half so i can install my new wiring harness and do some engine compartment cleaning and repainting. it was a pain in the ___ to get the mounts lined up when i installed my engine and would have never thought to have them mounted together and on the frame

Use the stock ones, even if you have full roller rockers...I'm usung Harlan Sharp Al. rockers, stock covers, doubled up on the gaskets, trimmed the tips of the drippers...1/8", and had to cut a small 45 off the corner of two rockers to clear the valve cover bolt relief....works great, no leaks.
I have the same valve covers and rocker arms, I eventually got them to fit but it took quite a bit of work especially with my power brakes, and I hated tearing up the new expensive valve covers but they do look nice. Let me know what you end up going with on the valve covers with those rocker arms becouse I want to switch to something shorter since changing the drivers side valve cover is now a nightmare.

The drivers side valvecover fits since I don't have power brakes. The passenger side is tough to get on with the vacuum deal there. I loosened and pushed it out of the way but even then the valve cover is against the hearter core box and won't go on all the way. Is yours riding against the heater core box there?
Mines a 73 so I don't have the vacuum controls for the wiper door there but there was some clearancing issues with the heater core box, I had to cut part of it and reseal it.
I now realize I forgot to install the insulation in the tunnel. I bought that preformed silver tunnel insulation and had it laying right here, but I got in a hurry to get the motor in and forgot about it. Am I going to miss it? Does it make the cockpit that much cooler?
