I remember someone mentioning on this board that they got a pair of Dart Heads for 650.00. I'm looking into them and want to know where you purchased them and how they performed.
Also what would be a suggested cam to go with them?
I have dart iron eagle heads with 165cc runners and 67?cc combustion chambers. It has great lowend punch, but is choked at higher rpms because of the smaller runner size. Definetely go with 180cc runners if you happen to get them. Also, take into consideration the cost of installation. Some places might charge 200, others 700+ to change heads out. If your spending that much, it only makes sense to put an awesome set of heads on to start with. I need some higher flowing heads with the way the rest of my engine is set up and plan on switching to brodix in the future. Don't get me wrong, i like the darts and they are very good and reliable heads, but you can get some awesome brodix heads for around 1000-1100.
I bought a set of WP torquers about 2-3 years ago from www.Dirttrackthunder.com They were $659 then but they stopped selling them, check them out anyway. I port and polished them but still haven't used them yet. They are 67 cc, 202/160 valves, 170 cc runner iron heads with screw in studs and springs rated for 520" lift if I recall. I plan on using them on a 020 over 350 with flat tops,Com 260h cam and roller tip rockers.

page62 and I were the ones who bought those heads at Summit for $650 a pair. You have to order the summit heads to get the good price. Joe
PS I haven't installed the motor yet, but page62 reports awsome midrange.
As I recall there was a guy that said he bought a pair of heads from Jeg's or Summit that were private labeled. They were made by one of the big name head mannufactures. I'll search the threads and see if I can find it.
That was me -- I found 'em on Summit's website before they even appeared in the catalog -- grabbed a set pronto. SUM-152123
Worth every penny. You only need the bigger intake runners if you're into racing...5500+ rpm. These are real-world street heads, not racing heads. They're good for .520 lift, so a good cam is very much in order
Page62 and I are running the L-82 cam with Dart heads but I have the IE heads with 200cc intake runners and the 64cc chambers. These heads are available from several sources but I got mine on Ebay complete for $750 delivered. Makes for about 10.4 C/R with the stock L-82 bottom end.
The engine does not feel lazy at low RPM and it pulls smooth easily up to the 6000 RPM area and probably would go higher. I realy need to work on my TH350 to get the shift points a little higher to take advantage of the top end power curve with the automatic tranny. This is a very civilized well balanced combo that runs on pump gas and gets decent mileage too. The bigger port heads give you room to grow if you ever want to upgrade in the future.
But many thanks to Joe, Page and stingr69 for pointing me to those "Fuelie" heads from Dart/Summit. I had posted in another thread where one of the tech guys from Dart replied to a request to me and recommended them to me. Like Page I want a driver that will have nice grunt and it's power 5000 and under.
I bought a garage this week (pretty decent house attached to it) so some time in June I expect to be putting those heads on!
I looked at Summit web site. They have 2 different heads for the same price; 151123 and 151124.
If the photo's are actual photo's of the product, you will see that the combustion chambers are different. Actually the complete head is different.
I am in no way implying that the 151123 are not any good. Others have used them and claimed they performed extremely well. However, they are different than the true vortec style, 151124. Has anyone asked Summit for flow figures on these two heads.

I thought those new Dart SS heads from Summit and others came with the new style "kidney bean" chambers. They are superior to the old school fuelie wedge chambers. I think I have pix of mine somewhere. The IE heads are definately kidney bean shaped.
That's why I used "If they are acutal photos". At times a vendor will show an old picture or use the same photo for many different parts. It can be misleading.
Don't know why the show the wrong photos. The heads definitely have vortec-style chambers:
As far as flow figures go, there's a lot more to consider. For those of us who hardly ever see the far side of 5000 rpm, a smaller intake runner is actually advantageous due to the increased torque at midrange. Look at the power curves in joe73vette's sig. They represent the power curve of these heads.
I like my Dart heads. Olivier would know who machined them, check sig for details.
This poor motor pulled my overwieght sled (almost 3700lbs) with no gear (3.36), a lousy converter (1800 stall, can barely lauch at 1500), choked up behind 2.5" chambered exhaust to a 12.9 1/4 mile.
Picture the little dog pulling the Grinch's sled and you'll get the idea.
This with a lousy 2.0 60' time. It pulls hard from 1800 past 6000. Imagine if I had it in a REAL 1/4 mile car
