Default Radiator recommendation please!

Well, it's official, my radiator is trashed.

It's a 73 with a 454. I have heard some radiators have issues with the tranny cooler hookup having interference????

Where is the best place to buy a new radiator? I already have the electric fans so I do not need the complete setup.

Thanks!

Try Dewitt's. They make awesome products from what everyone on the forum has said. They're a supporting vendor, look in the cloumn on the left hand side of the screen in the C3 pages under "restoration"

I have a "BeCool" radiator in my 73. It was a direct fit and I had no issues with the tranny lines. I purchased mine from SummitRacing. Rod

I put a new radiator in my 1981 about one year ago. I got it from radiatorworld.com it was a direct fit and cost $162.95. That's including shipping. They were very nice people and it only took 4 days to get to my house. Its been in the car now for a year and no problems.

Thanks everyone. Keep the recommendations coming. Radiator world looks good so far. $380 vs 500 for the dewit and becool.

MOdine from Napa it works fine on mine, although trying to put a 4 core n a support made for 3 core radiators was a bit fun. decent price, lifetime warranty, but they are stock....maybe not so good an idea for big block?

I would also suggest DeWitt's. Great product if it's in your budget.

Apples and Oranges. Dewitts and Becool are Aluminum Radiators. Much better cooling than Brass/copper. Unless that one from radiator world Is aluminum? For $380 that's a sweet price if it's a direct fit.

I went with a Griffin aluminum universal 31" X 19". From what I remember it was $179, then I had to buy a separate tranny cooler,~$49. Hoses both worked and mounts had to be slightly modified.

I went with a Griffin aluminum from Dewitts in my '73 with 454. It works great, even with A/C on in 90+ degree temps. The temp gage never goes over 180 (the thermostat temp).

Griffin gets my vote!!

If I'm correct, the Griffin radiators use epoxy inside, but the Dewitt's and Be Cool are all welded, no epoxy, making them more repairable down the road. That's the only thing I don't like about the Griffin's.

In all the years I been on this forum, and all my hotrod experiences over decades, I have NEVER heard anything bad about DeWitts, for a BB vette, i'ts THE way to go, about the only known cure for overheating.....all the rest is a crap shoot IMO....
