Default Exhaust options?

I'm getting down to planning the rest of the frame and drive train restoration stuff and I'm down to trying to figure out the exhaust system. What's the prevailing opinion on how to connect the exhaust from the headers on back out the tail pipe? Are there kits to do this DIY? If so, from where? I'm probably going to teach myself to weld with all the body mount work I have to do as well and so, wleding an exhaust system at that point should be falling of a log.

I had a local shop build a set of pipes to connect the headers to my standard exhaust at the crossmember. They did a nice job and ran a crossover pipe just in front of the manual tranny. The cost was around $200 if I remember right. If you can weld it shouldn't be too hard to do provided you have some pipes and bends. I would imagine that you could get what you need from somewhere like Summit or Jegs.

Here's an opinion for ya. There is more to welding than striking an arc. If you want a nice system pay someone with the skill to do it right or live with poor leaking welds. I have been a "dabber" for 15 years; the few times I have attempted to weld thin material turned out to be a mess. Good luck. It ain't as easy as it looks. When you can weld a curtain rod to a bar of soap you are ready.
