Default Edelbrock setup for lsx engines.

Has anyone done a LSx swap and used the new edelbrock carb setup that's out? If so what are your thoughts on it? Also do you guys think the better swap would be an ls6 or a 6 liter truck motor? The edelbrock kit will work on either one. There is a good write up on it in the new super chevy thats got me fired up to get off my butt and get my 76 finished up right. brad

I still don't understand why the kit is needed. Why change jets when you can just push a button. I get 22 to 25 mpg with FI. I don't Edelbrock can beat that.

Go with the 6 liter, you can bore it and get a few more cubes. No expensive sleeving.

Yes I am working on that project myself... I have a 77 vette a ls1 and 6.0 poted and shaved heads and new cam kit... I am doing the carb setup... still getting parts together for the swap...

I just found out that I need a special flexplate and spacer to work my TH350 and 3000 stall with the LS1.

I will be using factory F-body manifolds, but recently saw a 80 vette with a LS1 and shorty BBK heads?!?!

I spoke with the edelbrock guys and they claim the setup out performs the injected cars as far as power.

I am excited about the project.

I'm with Buddy... why bother going LSx if you're going to keep the carb? To each his own, I guess. That said, do some looking around at LS1Tech.com. I'm sure that some of the drag racers have used that setup by now. If you don't care about the extra 80lbs, the 6.0 setup would probably be cheaper and the extra cubes will help. (However, you're going to want to change the cam, valve springs, and pushrods.)

The general concensus is that shorty headers on LSx motors are no better than the stock manifolds. GM does a pretty good job of getting the stockers to flow.

My 2 cents...

Did Edelbrock mention they added a huge cam. You can work numbers anyway you want for press, ask Hot Rod Magazine.

I'm with Scooter, don't waste the time with shorties. Spend your money on parts at go fast. Intake, ported heads, cam, etc. Shorties just look good.

And the Earth is flat and the moon is made of cheese.

What do you think is going to make more power? A carb jetted for such and such a mixture at such and such a vacuum or fuel injection that puts a perfect mixture in every time regardless of variables such as air temperature/density. A proper fuel injection setup makes no more power than a properly setup carb. If track conditions change you don't have to tweak the fuel injection to maintain that power, it will do so on its own with the MAF and O2 sensors. The problem comes where you start testing a carb you tuned for the engine and the stock fuel injection computer settings on a modified engine. Well no duh you'll get more power with the thing that is properly metering the air/fuel ratio.
