I am having a 383 stroker built and just found out the dipstick will be on the passenger side. I have a 71 which originally had the dipstick on the driver side.
I do not have any accessories (e.g. a/c), etc. on the passensger side.
Anyone out there with a C3 with dipstick on passenger side , any issues with this ?
I wouldn't worry about it too much. As far as accessories, Im assuming you are talking about the accessory holes in the cylinder heads. The heads off of your 71 will fit this block.
The dipstick on the passenger side leads me to believe that the engine was in a truck or passenger car. If you have the casting number, there are plenty of sources of info on block casting numbers both on the net and in books. Someone in the forum and look this up for you if you are unable to access the information.
I believe I am good to go. the pic was a big help. I was concerned about the dipstick interfering with heater core box on the firewall and it appears that is not an issue.

Thanks for your help.
I recently put a 1 peice rear seal 383 in my 73 with AC. It has a passenger side dipstick but it there were no clearance problems at all.
I have found myself reaching for the dipstick on the driver's side a couple of times though.
My 79 is using a 350 block out of a 85 Suburban and has the passenger side dip stick. I encountered no issues but had a dog of a time finding a dip stick.
I installed a crate 350 in my 74 and used a passenger side dipstick from summit (part number TRD-9420). It works very well and keeps your fingers away from the headers.
