must be something unique to the SB....that is not the case with BB's...
Well...I'm not 100% sure that I have a stock dipstick tube. It appears so...driver's side, coming up at a slight curve, just outboard of the stock manifold.
Now, with headers in place, the tube needs to curve more inboard.

Check out Lokar. They make some custom ones that are short style. They also make a dipstick that has no tube. The stick goes into the block it's self and you pull the whole stick out instead of pulling a stick from a tube. It stays in place with rubber o-rings.
That straight piece I believe goes down inside the dipstick hole. It acts as a guide for the dip stick as it goes down into the oil pan. That curved piece looks like the proper upper dipstick tube.

i don't have this problem with my headers or dip stick tube???? but if i were to bend it i would put a another tube inside of it to stop the posibility of kinking it....

Never heard of that trick. I'll give it a try.
