I'm getting a cowl induction hood for my '76 from Vanacor. They're checking to see whether a bond-in airbox is avaialble for the hood and model year, also. Should know by Monday.
Anybody with a similar setup have any "gotchas" to share? I'm particularly interested in fitting the airbox so it's FUNCTIONAL. How about locating the airbox properly? Mar-Glass, Epoxy or other adhesive? Which air cleaner? How to seal it from engine heat?
I just purchased a complete front clip and L88 hood for my 69 vert from Vanacor two weeks ago. I called today to check progress and Diane said the items will ship next Tuesday. I will keep you posted.
You won't be disappointed. I'm running their L88 hood and their Air box with great results, hood bolted up PERFECT. prior to this hood I purchased a OEM BB hood also w/ great results. Other Vanacor parts include rear exhaust panel (since I switched to side exhaust and a rea 1/4 panel.

Great to hear. I've heard a lot of positive buzz about Vanacor's fiberglass parts over the years and I'm looking forward to seeing the product. How did you line up/bond in your airbox? Any snags?
I read a tip somewhere that said to put a dab of sticky stuff (silicone, bearing grease, gum, whetever) on the tip of an extra-long air cleaner stud and slowly close the hood until it contacts. Some of the sticky stuff will adhere to the hood.
That marks the center of the carb.
If you close the hood and get no mark, make the stud longer.
Obviously, you want to be careful not to punch a hole through the hood, so start short and take it easy.
Mine was NOS, so the General took care if it for me...
They have a catalog online. I'm just getting the straight "high rise" or "cowl induction" hood. Keeps the same lines as the '76 stocker, but the center hump is 2 1/2" higher or so.
We have bought stuff from them too and have to agree that we have had no major problems. Slight sanding to fit properly is normal. The stuff is definitely good.
I will be buying an L-88 hood for my 78 Vette soon. I have always planned to buy from Vanacore, but wondered about their quality after the owner died. I have heard good things about their products over the years.
