I went out on a fairly long drive on Sunday to enjoy the weather with some people from my corvette club. We tripped through a park, and then, while we were deciding where else to go, my car started to get warm (+225). When we finally got moving again, I got aggressive on the throttle, my engine started to buck, and then it died. The vette behind me saw a big puff of raw gas come out of my tail pipes just before it died. I'm not very good at diaginostics, so does anyone have any suggestions on to why this may have happened? Is it vapor loc?
Oh, and the motor is a fresh rebuild, less then 200 miles on it. I haven't rejetted the carb yet for the new cam setup, along with the larger valves that I'm running. Any ideas would be great!
I was preparing my car for another drive today, when I decided to add a little more oil, which is when I noticed that my valve covers were on backwards (oil fill is now on passenger side front, rather then drive side rear!) Anyways, as I was adding oil, I noticed that my vaccuum advance hose was melted off. This might be the cause for some of my problems(running rich enough to kill the car and blow raw gas out the pipes). However, any other opinions would be welcome.
