Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum, so this will probably be the first post of many. I'm having trouble removing my window crank on my 77. I ordered the "special" tool, but the "special" tool didn't come with any "special" instructions on how to use it. So, I'm left with a window crank removal tool, and the window crank still on the door panel. If anyone can instruct me on how to use this thing, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

on my 77 the door lodk **** is held in with type of "C" clip in a grove in the ****....if this is similar to the window crank i would guess this slips in and pushes out the "C" clip

We just had to use the same process to put on our new door panels for our 74. You have to use a small screwdriver or something to pull the grommet or seal away from the crank so you can actually push the tool in. Once its out of the way, push the tool in til it stops then spin the crank. It should pop off.
Any auto parts store will sell the tool you need to remove the clip without scarring the door panel. I did it with a little screwdriver, but wish I had used the tool as it took me a while. Just look in the "Help" section at your auto parts store. It looks like a flat pickle fork an dshould be but a few bucks.
