Alright guys.. sorry I can't post these pics on the forum directly but they're too big and I don't even have microsoft paint on this POS computer - so please take a look and tell me what you think.
How can I test to see if it works?
Are the ones at Autozone any good - what should I look for (I think I once read that the 71's had some sort of other wires to it)
Should I go get a remanufactured one - do these last very long?
49-152 is the Napa part number. its made by Rayloc and they usually come in a flat gray color which i dont like that much. i plan on painting mine flat black. they seem to work great and if something goes wrong u can always just bring it back and get a new one.
I put in a rebuilt motor last Friday night. I didn't need to test the old one very much since it smoked when I hooked up the switch. Rebuilt was $50 from a discount place with a $3 core refund. So far so good.
Does anyone know if a 71 has some sort of year specific difference to the wiper motor - I heard there was some extra wire on it that I should look for?
There is an "extra" terminal apart from the three-terminal connector on my '76. This is a ground lead, and when I bought the rebuilt motor, it came without a cover, so I had to transfer the old plastic cover over to the new one, and also had to connect a copper strip to the motor body so that the "extra" terminal would provide a ground to this part as well. Is this is the "extra" wire you are referring to?
This is the one I was referring to - do the ones at napa or autozone have this wire?
No, not unless your NAPA store carries a different one than it carries here--tis the wire to run the limit switch--to hold the wiper motor until the wiper door is fully opened. I don't believe its a mass produced part.

Thanks much guys - this is what I once read here but can no longer find.
If anyone comes up with a part number for the wiper motor with the wiper door switch wire from a national chain let me know. I need to replace mine also since the magic smoke came out of it a few years ago. I have a 1971 also.
Thanks
John
I don't know if this is any help at all for a '71, but I put a wiper motor from a 1980 or around that year Monte Carlo on my '80 and it fits perfectly and works great with all of the settings from the switch. I put this on during my salad days in the early nineties. For whatever this is worth!

Probably OK for 74-82 but won't work right in a 68-72 because of the "extra" wire and delay functions. Without the wire the blades will be pushing against the wiper door until it opens. The motor won't last very long. Hollander 600C fits 73-90 Buick/Olds/Pont/Chev/Cad RWD fullsize, 73-83 Century, 82-83 Camaro/Firebird,73-77 Chevelle/ElCamino/GMC Sprint, 73-83 Cutlass/Grand Prix/Regal/Monte Carlo, 73-78 Eldorado, and 74-82 Corvette all w/o pulse. It says it will fit same cars with pulse by transferring pumps and covers.
I recently bought a wiper motor for my '68. It matched perfectly. Had all the right ground connections and all. It was a rebuilt from AutoZone and was about $55. They do a pretty lousy paint job on these, and the paint was flaking off before I even had the motor mounted. Oh well. It was still well worth it to see that wiper door go up and down!
Autozone part # 40-152.
Good luck.

Four years ago, when I bought my 72 I thought the wiper motor went bad on it. I checked at Advance Auto and they had the correct wiper motor, with the correct wire for the wiper door for around $70. The only difference was it was blue. The same shade of blue that your wipre motor is. I bought this thing, it plugged in normally and then I discovered my wiper door switch was out of adjustment. I had intended to strip the blue paint off of the AA unit and leave it natural aluminum so that it looked original.

And I just noticed in your second photo that you wiper motor is a replacement - see the "REMFG" stencil. These things aren't that rare.
