Default Steering questions?

What's the best way to improve the steering? The wheel seems sorta sloppy, with alot of play. How much is normal for C3's. I've had the power streeing pump and lines replaced. What else should I rebuild/replace to improve it?
Thanks

You have to determine where the play is,could be from several parts: tie rod ends, idler arm, rag joint or steering box.

well i have replaced the outside tie rod ends and i also replaced lines and it's still pretty sloppy. What i am looking to do is to buy the rack & pinion conversion kit they sell but its like $1200 and i can guess that its pretty hard to put in. I say this not knowing if you want to keep the car stock or not.

On a C3 with manual steering cars there is ABSOLUTELY NO PLAY in the steering when everything is build to specification and the front end has no worn parts.

On power steering cars there can be some play at the valve where the pitman arm connects to the steering rod. If that valve is right, there is adequate PS pump pressure and your power cylinder doesn't leak there is very little play-only that required to make the valve power the assist cylinder.

I have purchased this kit, and am waiting for it to come off backorder.

If you want a lot of information on it, go to www.speeddirect.com They are the company that makes the kit, and Ecklers and a few others just re-sell it. There is complete install instructions and important informaiton on their web page.

It sounds like two people can do it in a day.

If you ask around, everyone who has converted says it's one of the best "upgrades" to a C3 that you can get.
