Temp sender going bad?
The temp on my car has been real cool recently. I checked it out today and with a temp gun I am showing around 170 to 185 at various parts around the motor. 175 right at the thermostat. The gauge is reading low and I checked it with an aftermarket gauge and it was showing only about 140 degrees. It has been working fine for 6 years previous to this but could there be corrosion on the threads. It does not look like any corosion and I change the coolant about every year and see no signs of anything bad. Or is it just a bad sensor. It is a different one than the stock because of the AFR aluminum heads but it has always read OK up until this year. Anyone have and corosion problems or sensor problems?
