Help....ordered 69 style sidepipes with fiberglass covers for my 76.. Does anyone know what paint to use?????????????? silver or chrome(liquid metal).......
I used House of Kolor's silver base coat for their Kandy's with clear over the top. it's about as close to chrome as you can get. The stuff in the spray cans is more like battleship grey
HOK, is a little more $$ but doesn't yellow like cheaper stuff out there.
This stuff really sparkles in the sun!
(sorry about the big pic. I'm at work and can't resize it...)
Did you already order? I have a set on my '75 (same yellow) I'd like to sell. Located in Rochester. E-mail me if interested: jeff_zettel@pittsford.monroe.edu
Can send digital pics.
Had sidepipes on my '69 350/350 4-speed and loved them! But on my '75 with automatic transmission, they just sound like an old Chevy with a hole in the muffler (my opinion). I bought them used and the original owner painted with a silver that I THINK is the rally wheel silver. It would make sense to match them if you still have your ralleys. He also took the time to trim the fins with black. No problems with fitment or heat transfer. Easy install. I think you'll be real impressed with them.
