bob, a good aliginment shop can probaly fix this. i had a 67 chevy 2 and after the alignment shop worked with it off and on for 2 mths. it was a whole lot better. that thing would scare the h out of you. you never knew wher it was headed and it never knew either. it would swap lanes with you and the steering wheel was straight. it was real scary to drive but the alignment shop i deal with got it were you was not afraid to drive it.

Pull 3 plug wires, that'll help it somewhat.

question is how much torque steer do you guys get?

when really getting on it, the car will move a little to the drivers side and if i immedialty get off of the gas pedal it the car will move back to the passenger side.

so how much torque steer is too much?
I had severe torque steer as you call it a few years ago. It turned out to be BUMP Steer. Because of inherited bad bad bump steer out cars can be hard to launch. On launch the front end rises causing severe toe in and whatever tire has the most weight begins to steer the car, let off and the weight falls causing a different toe setting and the car responds to that.
The solution is limit the travel with heavy springs and shocks.
Or fix the bump problem.
My car now launches straight and true , that is since the bump is eliminated.

yup i'm convinced that is it....everything is new and tight and under normal to moderate acceleration you never feel it....i can drive on a heavily rutted road on the top of the crown at 70mph and hold it there with two fingers....i don't believe i have an alignment problem. however i did lose lots of weight up front from: steeroids, aluminum intake, aluminum water pump, tossed smog, tossed a/c, mini starter... so i am theorizing that the loss of the weight actually stiffened up my suspension some making this tenedency even less noticable....of course my theories aren't always sound thanks bob

I also have it in my pos 82. And I didn't have it in the 80 with an identical engine to yours. I think something can be done about it regardless of what you call it. Btw I think your new term is accecptable since it seems torque steer is already taken or doesn't apply. Some of us can see the forest.

Hi Bobs77, I just rebuilt my rear Diff. I used new Carbon fibor clutchs, and 400Lbs preload springs for the posi.
Question :when you drop the hammer does the rear rubber on the ground stay the same length?. I havent installed my new engine combo yet but the new Ft/Rear suspension is finished and aligned. rubber is equeal lengths when I hit throttle on drivway.
Im sure the dealer gave you a alignement sheet ,did it show the Ft. and rear within specks?
Of course you've played with tire pressure?
and Im sure yr not power braking to do burnouts while asking this question ?
I cant imagine a slight lean in the body would cause the rear to slip like yr describing,But anything is possible,I guess. ? hope ya solve the problem.

Kevinator80....how about "bobsteer"..

chuck 75....after reading TT and Norval posts it got me to thinking about the steering aspect of this...all my alignment specs are good....i only notice this bump steer in one particular location on one highway which is really made for legitimate accelerating .....i seem to recall this is a fairly wavy washboard road....i bet i have the suspension system fully tasked when i'm noticing this...i am going to take my Infiniti out there tomorrow and punch it in the same spot and see how that car feels...as well as taking the corvette and punching it on a solid flat road..

and to answer your other questions i have spent so much money on my rear end i haven't the nerve to power brake it or spin the tires...man being 47 really sucks...i need to get over this and be a kid again...
