Default 350 HO crate

I'm still procrastinating about what to do about a engine for my 71. So, I have another question. What intake manifolds are available that will allow proper clearance with a stock smallblock hood with the 350 HO engine. All the Eldenbrock vortec manifolds say they will not fit under a corvette hood.

GM Performance has 2 intakes for the Vortec engine, made to fit under a Corvette hood.

Before I put in my 350 HO I had the stock engine with an old Torker intake which is probably a little taller than an Edelbrock Vortec intake. I needed a different air cleaner to clear the electric choke on a 1406 carb I put on before the engine swap. I finally found a setup that would work. I bought an offset base air cleaner from Jegs with a 2" tall filter. Then I had to cut about a half inch off the base by using a Dremel tool with a bolt clamped on to get a nice even cut around it. If someone makes an offset drop base air cleaner that works with a 1406 I wasn't able to find it. I haven't checked my hood clearance with the new Vortec setup but I doubt you would have to cut the base for the 350 HO with a regular Edelbrock Vortec intake.

The 68 thru 72 hoods have a little less room than 73 and on. What p/n for the GM performance products manifolds?
Also, how do you folks like the 350 HO crates?
Thanks

So far I've only got about 10 miles on mine (from my garage to the body shop on salty roads) but I can say it is a mighty improvement over my wore out L48.

I have the 350 H.O. engine in my '81. The intake manifold is the Edelbrock Vortec Performer, With a Edelbrock 1904 Q-jet carb. I've had it in the car for over 4 yrs. now. No problems with it. I upgraded the valve springs and install a LT4 Hotcam last year. That really woke it up a little. I had to do like "jdmick" did to his drop base air cleaner.
Hopefully next year if I finish getting the rest of my parts for the Tuned Port Injection system, I will get that installed. And I have the Nitrous system for the TPI also. So we'll see how really strong this engine is.

I just helped my neighbor install this engine in his car...it runs great, sounds nice on flowmaster 40s. You can fit an Edelbrock Performer for Vortec heads under a stock small block hood.

Thanks for all the responses. Does anybody have this engine in a 68 thru 72?
