Default Really high idle

Okay I am stumped and could use some advice. My 1980 with a 350 and 200r4 has run flawlessly for the last couple of years. All of a sudden whenever I start my car it revs up to about 2200 RPMS and won't come down for at least two or three minutes.
I have checked the connection to my electric choke, checked for binding in the linkage and throttle cable and all my vaccum lines. It's a four barrel anything else I should look for or check? seems to run nornal after it is warmed up.

You checked most of the items I would recommend. I have a Holley 6000 series carb with mechanical choke. I had the same problem and the choke linkage was kinked and preventing one of the other levers from moving. I just opened and closed and all the linkages, and butterfly valves until I heard a mechanical clink, and then everything ran smooth.

Hope you find the problem.

Check your vacuum pots on the carb. Even if the linkage is free, the vacuum diaphragm may be leaking and not actuating.
