Well, the way GM built them, they won't hold up.. However, with aftermarket parts they can be built to hold up to 800 and more HP.. TH350's can even be built to 1200+ HP...

I have about 15 passes on my TH200R4, running in the low to very low 11's.. The only problem that I had was a popped out spring from the governer which was a $0 fix..

Well, like you said, the good parts cost money, so one just needs to spend the $119 (which is actually cheaper than a stock GN governor) for the modified governor with the set screw that holds it in.

I might change the governor anyway to one that shifts later...
