I'm in the process of removing my exhaust manifolds to install headers and I've gotten 11 of the 12 bolts loose. However, on the drivers side one of the two center bolts is actually a threaded bolt coming out of the manifold with a nut on the end. Does anyone know why this would be? Of course this is the one giving me a problem and I've tried almost everything to get it off. I'll try to post a pic tommorrow.
Thanks for the info I just wasn't sure what was supposed to go there and the previous owner removed the choke heat stove so I was at a loss. The nut on the a/c bracket came off easily and I plan on removing the a/c components since it doesn't work anyway.
Bob, I'm doing what you suggested and using a torque wrench and taking my time. They all seem to be coming out but something's bound to pop up or probably break off.
Watch when you put it all back if you dont re-install the heat riser. The bolts are a little too long without it and will bottom out in the block without completely sealing the exh manifold against the block. Drove me nuts till a forum member pointed that out.
