The Energy Suspension are a far better design than original. The structure make it impossible to seperate like original. 3 years ago I installed them and they are holding great.
They can be a PITA to install, mine sure were..and I'm probably going to swap to solids. Oh and the plating on the ES stuff sucks also, I had them completely replated by my favorite local plating plant...they do a great job all the time.
Mine are a tight fit and I had to loosen up the bolts in the block to get the ears to go over the hole in the frame mount, it was the only way. My frame is not bent, it's perfectly straight and the stock moutns bolted up jsut fine. Must be in the design of the mounts.

I think I have Prothane? poly mounts. Fit fine. I was just looking at them yesterday when attaching to the 383 block and I can not remember. Old age. Will check later this evening and let you know.
I installed the ES mounts recently in my 72. Seperated the "ears" of the mounts a bit in the vise with an adjustable wrench, to ease installation. For some reason, the driver side was a bit of a pain to line up, but the pass side lined right up.
I also installed the trans mount. Others have stated that this is taller than the stock rubber mount, which is true. I installed it without the flat metal "pre-tensioner" plate to minimize the height difference. The exhaust mount bracket should supply the "pre-tension" that is needed.
Vibration is increased a bit after installation, but at least the air cleaner isn't hitting the hood anymore.
On a related issue, I remember a recent thread in which someone said Corvette motor mounts were different than stock chevy mounts, ie shorter. If this is true can hood clearance be increased with useing stock mounts specifically built for a C3 corvette?? Another thought, does someone make a non specific short mount??
