Anyone know what the stock compression is for a stock 81 vette.

Does anyone know what stock valve size is for a 82 vette. (crossfire)

Is it 8.2:1, or 8.5:1. Somewhere in there.
Both engines (81/82) have 1.94/1.50 valves.

would it be worth it to do a gasket port match???
or is it a waste of time, going to use a weiand stealth manifold
and a 675 cfm carb.

I agree with the valve size on the 81/82
But the 82 had a compression ratio of 9.0:1

As far as I know, my L81 is at the giddy heights of 8.2:1 CR (which is why I have to use special expensive fuel ).

Any improvement is worth doing, but the problem is whether you think that the slight improvement is worth the time you spend on it eg. many people would consider me fitting a better cam with the stock heads & pistons a waste of time as the full potential can't be realised. For the time it took me to change it I'm not convinced that it was worth doing, but now it's all done (& the bills paid) the improvement is nice to have. I hope that makes sense!

All 81's are 8.2:1

If you go to a 675CFM carb you will be stepping down from the stock E4ME which is rated at 795CFM(with secondaries full open). Of course, you don't need the full 795CFM with the L81 anyway unless you make some serious changes. I am just assuming you are wanting to get away from the computer controlled carb.

agree. As for the CR it is on your shifter plate, isn't it?

They stopped doing the shifter plates in the mid-70s because the numbers were getting so embarrassing...

May bubba smile upon you!

I do like the serpentine belt though. i can't help but notice that the belt seems to have missed the smog pump. Probably just as well with the missing pully.

That serpentine belt does look nice, but what happened with the
water pump?

Were they painted from the factory? Mine was blue...

Hey, no radiator, no hood, heck - pull the engine. While you're at it
will make everything worth it...

Everything here in the engine bay was just a mock up to make
sure eveything was going to work. Including the serp, setup.

If you look close there is no shocks, no gear box, and many other little things,

I have a clean setup now. the serpintine system worked fine with
small mods. VERY OLD PICTURE

And there is a radiator there, with custom fan.

I figured that it was "work in progress" since there were so many cluttered and disconnected lines. Surely a "true corvette enthusiast" would not leave his engine compartment in that shape for the others to criticize.........

My own LOL. I modified a 91 rs fan to work, and looks great, so
I did not have to spend big bucks for an aftermarket one. .

I'm sure lots of people are not aware of many good fans in junkyards
and stuff like that. You can mod, these fans to work and look just
as good as others. 4th gen F-bodys have great looking dual fans.

For those not worried about getting dirty, or cutting things up,
you can mod anything to work and look just as good
