Primer Paint Sealers

You can first seal the entire car with PPG "DP" series epoxy primer/sealer (like DP-40LF). This stuff is very good, and provides an excellent adhesion base for the subsequent topcoats.
On top of this, I'd recommend shooting a polyester fill primer. Polyester primers are a lot like "gelcoat" in that they're high-building stable catalyzed coatings. This will give you a thick sanding base to cover all strand texture. Most of the major paint suppliers offer a sprayable polyester filler (it's like spraying a coat of "Bond-O" on the whole car). Once you have sprayed and blocked out the polyester, you can then use a high-build urethane fill primer like PPG's K36. This will smooth out and seal the polyester, and will allow you to do all your finish blocking and sanding for paint.
