I always thought it marked 160. nope, it's 180. I installed an Autometer mechanical guage in the head, left the factory guage in the cast iron intake. Both guages agree at 220 only. We'll see tomorrow how the vac advance distributor I installed tonight helps with idle temps.

It cleaned up my idle quite a bit. I was running aout 14 degrees BTDC and with the vacuum I now am at 26 at idle. I can't say about the temps, I was more interested in cleaning up the idle. Much better now.

There's a reason that first mark in unlabled. The temp sensor they use is extremely non-linear and is only calibrated at 1 temperature.

That first mark is just there for reference don't assume it will mean anything simular on a different car...

Yes it is. I went from 9 inches to 11 inches of vacuum with the added advance.

I did a quick test of the temp. gauge a long time ago & found it to be 180. Recently checked gauge again & the line halfway from 100 & 200 was 180 & halfway from that line to 200 was 190.
