I have heard good and bad about most popular headers. I wonder if it is quality of installation that makes the diference? Would taking out the spare tire carrier make for a better ex job? I know that I want to go 1" lower, X pipe and I don't want problems. I'm willing to run shorties if necessary. Any thoughts?
My headers are like 3.125" off the deck, less than 0.25" lower than my 7qt oil pan and +2qt tranny pan. So far minehave only taken scrapes and no leaks, but the rear pipes are a squared-off mess!
I really need to get a skid plate going soon....
Oh, I don't know what pulling the tire carrier would do......headers are 4+ feet shy of there. My pipes go around my carrier with no problem.
Mine are Hooker Supercomps and I have a 1.5-2" diameter crosspipe in front of the removable tranny crossmember.

Interesting that everyone here has good clearance... mine won't make it over many speed bumps without a slight scrape. Hedman 68301-6.
Steve - In your case I would shim the back of the tranny on the cross member. Mine is shimmed nearly an inch and half. I was trying to get the motor level years ago and add header clearance. I have the 1 inch shorter springs like you and at the time I was using 50 series 15's on the front that were very short.
The tranny tail shaft is rubber mounted so i took an old steel belted radial tire over to freinds house that had a band saw. I just cut out a couple of squares and used a drill press to put the bolt holes in it. I just bought longer bolts at the hardware store and shimmed it up
