I checked my differential carrier bushing and it looks in good condition.
Perhaps the rotational noise was an option on certain model year C3's. Just kidding, of course.
i also get a klunking noise when i put it in gear . everything looks good ,but have been told that the diff bushing can look good till you take it out .i know that my bushing is 22years old ,so i am going to change that so that i know that is not the cause of the noise
I have the same noise as thevetteman, acceleration and deceleration.I don't see an answer to his question,so I thought I would ask again. This noise is only there when the strain is on it.Any ideas as to what is wrong?
Vuego, I solved the problem by applying a very small drop of graphite to the pins that secure the brake pads in the rear calipers. It took the lubricant a while to soak in, but while I was driving yesterday, I suddenly realized the noise was gone.
I inspected the differential carrier bushing, but didn't replace it. A mechanic told me if the bushing was bad the car would make a rotational noise on acceleratopn and deceleration. I only heard a noise when decelerating.
