2AM, problems with T5 conversion, looking for some help.
1, My drivers side header is hitting the slave cylinder, (hydraulic clutch). I am thinking of trying to fit a header from a 3rd gen fbody, whichis where my 5 speed setup is from, will this work or not?
2. I am a little concerned that I may have gotten "mislead" when I bought my T5. Every pic I have seen of this puts the shifter about 2 inches forward and 2 inches to the right of the stock location. Mine came up in the middle of the tunnel (left to right) so that was fine. However it is about 1.5 inches further back from where it needs to come up through the boot? Do I need to recheck the numbers on my trans (actually check for the first time), or is it ok?
3. The crossmember is an obvious issue, but I was under the impression that I would need to make an adaptive plate to get it to line up. However mine seems to stick up into the tunnel to much as I cannot even come close to putting bolts to the rails? Am I missing something or do I just need to go from scratch?
Any help and advice would be great, I will get this stinking thing on the road by the end of the month one way or another!
I am glad that you managed to work out the header issue. We too had to ding the header to make it work. However, we used a Wildwood hydraulic cylinder. I wanted to ask what pedal setup you used? And did you use the stock lines?
Hope things work out. It should make the car fun to drive.
Master cylinder from an 83 chevy truck
slave cylinder from a 86 camaro!!!
Talk about hodge podge!! Anyway, I am thinking i am going to cut up the crossmember to get it to work.
