Engine Pull

Planning to drop the muncie tomorrow morning and then pull the engine. Anybody got any step by steps or 'whatever you do don't do this....' pointers

Don't run out of beer.

Don't forget to drain all the coolant.

Don't forget to install new ignition wires BEFORE you reassemble the engine and put it back in the car. Lable the ends of the all the wires. This job is easy when assembling the engine but a TOTAL PITA after it is installed.

If your hoist isn't long enough to go in from the front, the engine can be pulled from the side.

Well thanks to everyone for the help. My forearms arms are bruised from wrist to elbow but it's out.

And thanks Ganey for the tip about hoisting it from the side....that made the difference. Now if I can just find where it all goes when it's time to put it all back.

Glad to see it helped, if you wait awhile, it will eventually document putting an engine back in

How long I wait will depend on the oil analysis and what the cylinder walls look like when I pull the heads off. I'm almost positive the value guides are shot and that's where my oil burn has been coming from.
