Front passenger side: 194879S(possible 8)730517
Rear passenger side: L15 9
Rear Drivers side: 3963512 ONV1 GM6

Also does anyone know of a web site that I can look up some of this information. I'm in the market for a carb and want to get the original one. I also need to get plug wires and want to get the correct date code on those as well any help would be greatly apprciated. Thanks so much.

What year corvette do you have? What's your vin? This block was used in 1969 427s and 1970 and 71 454s. The build date is L15 9 or December 15 1969. Probably originally installed in a early production 70. The number on the front pad looks like a 69 VIN, 194679S730517. But that VIN shouldn't go with the engine because the car was built in Sep 69. Are there any other numbers on the front pad? Maybe a dealer replacement?

You would need more information to determine the correct carb. The block was used with 390, 400, and 435 hp cars in 69 and 390 hp in 70.

The car is a 69 427 with 390 hp. no ps/pb/or AC. The manifold is numbered as follows,

GM
3947801

I happen to be at a friends house cleaning up the intake so I have those numbers. But I don't have the vin with me right now. Thanks so far for the info. I'll post the vin tonight when I get home.

EDIT. When I was looking at the info to order wires, it was asking with radio or without radio. my car came with the standard radio and not the upgraded radio. Which wire set would I get? Again, I really appreciate all of the help. What source are you using to get all of the info(I would love to have that book or site).

Isn't the L15 9 the casting date of the block, not the build date?
There should be another set of numbers/letters on the engine pad on the front of the block, similar to T1205LO. this gives the build plant, assembly date and the application of the motor, 390, 400, 435HP, auto, manual trans.
If the motor was a warranty replacement it would have a CE code on the engine pad.
the spark plug wires for any radio application on a big block (67-69) are a shielded set. the non radio application is usually L88 or other radio deletes.
the correct date would be before the assembly date. There are repo sets easily available with correct dates.
The Corvette Black Book is a good place to start for your information. Can be bought for under $15 at most Corvette vendors including the Museum.

Correct carb for a 390hp 69 is Rochester Q jet part # 7029215 for a manual and #7029204 for automatic trans. Corvette Black Book is a great reference as well as Corvette by the Numbers. Both well worth the price. Also, NCRS Corvette Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide. These three books can tell you just about anything you need to know about what is correct for your car.

That looks like it matches the VIN derivative on the block. Check it when you look for other numbers.
