What could it be? The noise coincides with RPM's...Could it be a loose alt. or AC belt? So far the engine is running cold, haven't got her up to operating temps yet.
Check your fan's shroud clearance. If you didn't get the shroud back in the exact spot this could be the problem.. I'm sure you did this, but take a hard serious look all around. This did happen to me. I've a tight shroud and after some work under the hood I managed to move it 1/4 inch closer inadvertantly. Under rev it made contact...ouch.

I had this exact thing happen on a 73 BB. We installed the fan to hub backwards. Once we turned it around the ticking stopped.

Check one more thing. On the waterpump hub there are studs that are installed that hold the fan assembly. Sometimes when installing the studs you can install them too deep and they will stick out the back of the hub. Check to make sure they are installed properly and not hitting anything.
